Code of Conduct
Upon registration you will be asked to sign our Code of Conduct. It is a requirement for you to be able to attend HYDE 2024.
- Over 18s only! Upon registration we will request ID to confirm age.
- We’re asking you to take a Covid Test 24 hours prior to the event and show us a photo of proof upon registration.
- Privacy: No photos or video recordings. Respect use of scene names.
- Discrimination, bigotry or hate based on race or ethnicity, gender identity or expression, age, religion, orientation, neurodivergence, disability, national origin or socioeconomic class will absolutely not be tolerated.
- Please speak English: We are aware that this is an international Con and that we have a lot of German attendees but please don’t exclude anyone by speaking your native language excessively.
-
Event safewords:
RED means stop immediately.
YELLOW means slow down and check in.
GREEN means please continue or go ahead. - Consent is paramount. Do not attempt to trance someone who has not given their consent!
- We encourage an 'opt in' consent model, though we recognise familiar play partners will have pre-negotiated consent.
- Do not try to renegotiate after the scene has begun, as the subject will not be able to give their full consent. Do not ask for consent from someone who has just been tranced.
- No means no. If someone declines to play (including a soft no like a 'maybe'), do not try to convince them otherwise. You shouldn’t ask a second or third time.
- Get consent for physical contact.
- Do not interrupt or attempt to join a scene without consent.
- Your negotiations for play should be full, thorough and specific. If you don't know how to conduct a negotiation for mind play, ask experienced attendees politely if they could give advice or feedback.
- Be mindful of volume and others’ comfort with the themes of your play. If your play has dark/CNC themes please keep volume limited to your group.
- The dining room is a play-free space to give people a place to decompress and wind down.
- Blood play, knife play, penetration, play with bodily fluids and genital nudity are not allowed.
- We have a room for private sessions. To reserve a 30 minute block fill out the list on the door. Always check the list and don’t enter, knock or otherwise interrupt if a session is going on.
- Do not use other people's hypnotic or conditioned triggers without the subject's consent to do so.
- If you feel consent has been breached or anything makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please contact the consent team or - on the play evenings - the DM’s.
- Alcohol and recreational drugs are not allowed at the event.
- HYDE is a group that does not tolerate those who intend to harass, bypass consent or violate the boundaries of others.
- Organisers are in discussion with other event organisers in the German, English and Dutch play scene and will share information for the safety of attendees. Therefore, a ban from HYDE may affect your ability to attend events elsewhere.
By signing the COC you confirm that you have read and understand these rules and accept that if you breach these rules you may be asked to leave the event forthwith without refund.
Furthmore you accept that the organisers and the venue cannot be held responsible for any damage or injury to person or property, however caused, during this event.
The signed documents are only accessible to the organisers and will be destroyed within 3 months after the event.
